Within a glass, there is an emptiness called Ku (空).
In Sanskrit, the word Sunia (śūnya शून्य) represents the Buddhist concept of emptiness, or Ku.
In India, śūnya is also the word for the number zero.
With this concept in my mind, drawing the outline of
Ku (空 / emptiness) within Mu (無 / nothingness) becomes like writing a “0”.
The texture of the outline determines the nature of Ku.
Architecture is not the outline of an object, nor is it the object’s shape, color or materials.
Rather, it is “the space (空性=Kusyo)” that it creates.
